As a result of a series of spectacular railroad robberies, Lieutenant Macready of the U. S. Marines is sent with his company of men to the gold country, aided by Sergeant Smith. Phil Howard, who is actually an undercover agent for the Marines, is accused of stealing bonds and takes refuge with the Davises; Davis, a former sea captain, fully convinced that Howard is a fugitive from justice, reveals himself to be the leader of the mail bandits, whom Howard joins. Davis plans to loot the gold train, but during the robbery, Howard radios the Marine base for help. The bandits seize the gold but are pursued by airplanes and forced to surrender in a canyon. Howard and Laura are happily reunited.
