Kate, a single woman in New York City, prepares interview questions for her dates, hoping that her survey will help flush out a man worthy of her time and attention. Several men seem promising, until their answers reveal qualities she finds disappointing. The waitress Dominique suggests new questions to ask, and even sets Kate up with a lesbian friend - who also bombs the interview. Feeling discouraged, Kate crosses through a local park on the way home. Sitting on a park bench, she reviews her index cards for next time. Just as she's about to revise her questions, she notices a mysterious man performing tricks with a yo-yo. His dexterity impresses Kate. She rips up her cards and takes him home.
