Kids & Ghosts is the story of June (15), a tough and tomboyish girl who lives with her single mother and baby brother on the north side of Chicago. Because June's mother works late at the hospital, June is often forced into playing the role of emergency adult. This is the case on Halloween night when she agrees to take her brother Tyke (13) trick or treating. Everything is going fine until the pair run into some neighborhood bullies: a gang of three, mean, but somewhat endearing rug-rats lead by Mouse (15). Mouse, Rex, and Duckie are looking for trouble and Mouse is looking for June - a girl who he secretly likes despite being really quite evil to. These boys assault June and Tyke and while attempting to steal Tyke's Halloween candy, they discover his prized switchblade - the only memento left by their father. Looking for trouble, the boys flee to a notoriously haunted mansion in the neighborhood to vandalize and wreak havoc. So off June and Tyke go in search of the switchblade. What none of these naive children know is that the mansion is actually haunted by ghosts and an abomination known as the Nightshifter. Now it's June's job to team up with her enemies against the paranormal and rescue her little brother from a fate worse than death.
