Inspired by true events, Opal chronicles the unlikely rise to fame and eventual downfall of a west coast maverick. Raised in a lumber camp in the early 1900s, Opal is a self-taught naturalist whose childhood diary becomes an international sensation. But things go awry when coded messages are discovered in Opal's writing, suggesting the diary may have been faked.
