The RaptureThe Rapture is an intense and surreal thriller about a plot by international art thief Victor Walker (played by Martin Kemp) and corrupt politician Sir David Wiseman (Philip Davis), to steal from under the noses of the authorities, an ancient religious artifact known as the Spear of Destiny; the spear that was used to pierce the side of Christ at the crucifixion, which is on loan from Vienna to the Victoria and Albert museum in London. As members of a shadowy secret society known as the New World Order, they plan to use the Spear to fulfil an ancient prophecy, to extract DNA from the blood of Christ contained in the Holy Grail. Following a trail of coded clues laid down by the Knights Templar many centuries before, leading them to a small chapel in Scotland where the fabled seventh seal hides the chalice, they enlist the help of bitter scientist Professor Anderson (Gary Kemp) and his assistant (Jamie Murray), to use the DNA to hasten the apocalypse by creating a laboratory clone. Working against the Order, and directed by the mysterious Controller (Steven Berkoff), are agents of the Vatican both natural and supernatural (Colin Salmon and Lisa McAllister) , whose methods are similarly dubious, a gang of mercenary Free Runners led by Wraith (Danny Dyer), and an unwitting used car salesman ,who's past is as much of a mystery to him as his present mission on earth. Chaos and catastrophe strike the world as one ancient seal after another is broken open, and the struggle to acquire the Spear becomes ever more violent and desperate as the day draws near for the prophecy to be fulfilled. Walker and his criminal gang are diverted and frustrated by small time villains (Geoff Bell and Roland Manookian) and the treacherous alliance of an unhinged Scotland Yard detective (Billy Murray), and the boundaries of loyalty and sanity become increasingly blurred as the adversaries manoeuvre and double cross their way ever nearer to the ultimate prize.
