2. | Miss Sharp Begins to Make Friends | Becky is in Hampshire as governess to Sir Pitt Crawley's neglected daughters. Determined to get into his good books she quickly lands a promotion to secretary. The arrival of Crawley's sister prompts a new plan.
Becky soon wins over Sir Pitt's daughters and the old man himself, who makes her his secretary. Pious elder son Bute and his sour-faced wife are not impressed by her but Bute's handsome brother, army captain Rawdon, is as is Sir Pitt's sister Matilda, who takes Becky as her companion. Amelia, however, starts to doubt George's commitment to her and turns to Dobbin for advice. více |

3. | A Quarrel About an Heiress | Becky has moved in with Matilda Crawley and seems to have a bright future ahead of her. However, war is brewing which threatens the fortunes of the scheming social climber and everyone she knows.
Becky takes an unimpressed Matilda to meet the Sedleys, unaware that they have fallen on hard times with Mr Sedley forbidding Amelia to marry George Osborne though the young couple rebel and are wed. Meanwhile Becky falls foul of Matilda and Sir Pitt when they learn that she has secretly married Rawdon. However news that Napoleon Bonaparte is waging war in Europe overtakes everybody with Becky proposing to Amelia that they accompany their soldier husbands to the continent. více |

4. | In Which Becky Joins Her Regiment | George refuses to apologise for his marriage to Amelia and his father cuts him off from the family and his inheritance. All the friends set sail for Belgium, where Becky makes use of every opportunity to advance in society.
Incensed by George's secret marriage to the impoverished Amelia his father disinherits him, despite Dobbin's efforts to intervene, though he seems to be more concerned about the loss of money than affection for his wife. In Belgium Amelia is befriended by the down-to-earth wife of Major O'Dowd whilst Becky flirts with the top brass to further Rawdon's career. Since George is amongst those who are smitten by her she makes an enemy of her former friend. She also makes plans for her own future should Rawdon fail to survive the inevitable forthcoming battle - Waterloo. více |

5. | In Which Battles Are Won and Lost | The Battle of Waterloo gets underway with George in the thick of it. Becky spies an opportunity to profit from the war by selling Rawdon's horses to the cowardly Jos.
Becky capitalizes on the civilian panic in Brussels by selling a frightened Jos her horses to allow him to escape but Amelia refuses to go with him. The French are defeated at Waterloo with Dobbin distinguishing himself but there are many casualties and George's father puts Amelia in an impossible situation. Returning to England Becky learns that the late Matilda Crawley has cut Rawdon and herself out of her will and starts to make contingency plans for themselves and their son Rawley, courtesy of the powerful Lord Steyne. více |

7. | Endings and Beginnings | Becky is alone and living in greatly reduced circumstances. Dobbin discovers that Amelia plans to remarry, prompting him to finally confess his feelings for her. The Sedley's have an unexpected encounter on holiday. více |
